Updated info regarding Astor Place Reimagined:

We are building two large structures for people to play with across the esplanade from our camp.

This is the subway entrance we are building of wood- and life size. Inside we are creating a mini subway car for people to play in. In the back ground you can see the spinable cube, which we are also building for people to spin and play with. This location in NYC is known as a hang out for artists and is usually surrounded by people playing music, doing capoeira, dancing, and doing performance art.

We are recreating this location on the playa to imagine this space without the 4 lanes of traffic and cars bisecting the space and destroying its usefuleness by a larger community.

Infront of our camp we are creating 4 stoops for people to hang out on and play with- each stoop will lead to a room where people can hang out the window, yell at passers by, yell at people to get off their stoops, and generally act like new yorkers.

Along side of the stoops and around the area there will be a number of activities for people to play on and with, bocci ball courts, a adult sized playground, tables and chairs for people to sit and chat, a tea house, an "astor place hair cutting salon" , and a bar.
